South River Herbals
About South River Herbals: South River Herbals is a community
herb shop and education center that provides high quality, organic and ethically
wild crafted herbs, herbal products and supplies, organic herbal, black, green,
and white teas, books, and unique gifts from local artists. We are dedicated and
committed to building community and supporting other small businesses that are
ethical and Earth conscious. We offer classes for both adults and
children on herbs, aromatherapy, soapmaking, and more, including birthday
parties, "HerbKids" (formerly known as "Herb Camp",
“Pamper Parties”, community programs, as well in-service programs for health
care facilities. Owner Eva Maynard has been a family
herbalist for over 10 years, and has had a variety of herbal teachers, including
an apprenticeship with Rosemary Gladstar at Sage Mountain.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Education, and is certified to teach
Elementary grades. Eva has experience in Therapeutic Recreation, and is
qualified as a Therapeutic Recreation Director.
She feels blessed to be able to combine her deep love and respect for the
plant world with the joy she finds in teaching. About our classes: South River Herbals provides
informative, hands-on, and fun classes in a small and comfortable setting. We
offer classes to people with a variety of herbal experiences and interests.
Because we believe that no one person or system of healing can provide all of
the answers, we strive to be a resource by drawing on the skills and talents of
many gifted herbalists, practitioners, and teachers in our community, and, as we
grow, are offering a greater variety of classes, taught by a greater variety of
people. To this end, South River Herbals is pleased to welcome Alicia Almagro as a co-teacher in several of our classes. Alicia has found her true calling as a certified middle school teacher and herbal educator. She has served as a live-in apprentice to Rosemary Gladstar at Sage Mountain for two summers, and formally studied and worked with David Winston at the Herbal Therapeutics School of Botanical Medicine. She also currently teaches with Margi Flint at EarthSong Herbals, where she is a practicing herbalist. Her passion is learning and sharing her knowledge. *Note!
